Christmas party fun

Tonight we had a joint Beaver and Cub Party as our last meeting this term. Lots of fun and a visit by Bishop Peter Fox who kept the children engrossed with his magic!

He was very good with a piece of rope!

And a pack of cards too!

Bats, Owls, and Moths at Strumpshaw

We went Batty at Strumpshaw

Had a great time with Suzy and the team at Strumpshaw Fen RSPB tonight. Cubs had a chance to see some Moths trapped in the Moth Trap, walk in the woods and search for Bats, only heard a couple this time. Then cubs were given Owl Pellets to dissect. Owls eat small mammals whole but can't digest the fur or bones so they regurgitate them. We disseccted them to find out what had been eaten! We found tiny skulls and legs and jawbones ... it was a hoot!
