A Night in the Woods!!

Tonight we met at Whitlingham down by the river. There was a slight hitch in the logistics when getting cars at each end of the hike route, Helen jumped out of her car to see her lift disappearing! I met her running down the road!!
We split into two groups, one went on the Low Ropes with Ali, Dom, Andy and Carol, the others had a game of Raiders of the Lost Ark on the boat climbing frame with Charles and Helen.
By 7.30 torches were definitely needed when we set off to walk back to the Visitor centre. There was no chance to hear or see any wildlife because it all ran away as we approached!!
We counted them all out (21) and counted them all back and handed them over to their grown ups at 8.15pm
A great night out!

Well we've been busy at 1st Nc Cubs this 1/2 term doing our Map Readers badge,
here we are making a huge map of Norwich
with Lego models for some important buildings

 Had a great game of hockey this week too!

Its really fantastic in our new community HQ as well!

Today it snowed and snowed, but Ali and Charles walked to the New Hope Christian Centre and 4 Cubs also braved the cold. We had a great time building a snowman and then a snowball fight. then we warmed up inside before going home.

A starry night tonight was perfect for out visit to Seething Observatory. I was worried that not all would find their way there, but we had a an almost full turn out. We saw constellations, and exploding stars, and distant galaxies and were treated to an excellent talk by David Balcombe.

Visit to Seething Observatory

On 16th Oct' we arrived at Seething Observatory to find a cloudless clear sky just right for star gazing.

Love Where You Live ~ Big Clear Up

Cubs Scouts and Beavers took part in this joint event with Macdonalds.

We collected litter over a wide area of Lakenham. 269.9Kg to be exact. Scouts from 9 Groups across Norfolk collected some 2300 Kgs which is as amazing as it is sad. Macdonalds not only put up a prize, winners to be announced, but the manager got all the volunteers a meal at the end as a thank you.

Tonight was a bit clearer and we got outside with our binoculars but there's a lot of light pollution here so we couldn't see many stars, still the final of the conker knockout saw Ben as the winner.

Back at NHCC this week beginning our Astronomy, however not only were there no stars visible it rained on us too. However we started a conker tournament and found out about constellations.
